So you're sitting there thinking about how unhappy you are with yourself and you come to the conclusion you're going on a diet, you're going to exercise and be happy with you again. You're sitting there weighting at 175 pounds (This is the weight where I started) and you say i'm going to get to 135! Okay, now don't get me wrong..that's great but you're giving yourself an impossible girl (that is actually possible). The reason I am saying it's impossible is because it's such a jump! No matter how healthy you eat or how much you exercise you aren't going to get there because all you're going to do is stress about it. Stress releases Cortisol, which in turn slows your metabolism, which in turn holds onto the fat so STOP IT! Give yourself a reasonable goal. Once you hit that goal give yourself another one and slowly but surely get to your ultimate goal. For example: I started at 175 and my first goal was 165, then 155, then 145 (which is where I'm trying to get now! 4 more pounds!!!) and the last goal will be 135. According to my Nutritionist 135 is where I should be to be healthy! If i can lose more, so be it but I will NOT stress about that. Honestly, giving the little goals first is so much better because in the end you have more to look forward to. Starting at 175 and having the goal of 135 from the beginning wouldn't be as "fun." It would be stressful, and in my opinion, ultimately un-motivating. I would feel like I wasn't getting there fast enough and then I would just give up and be so hard on myself. Who wants that? Your ultimate goal IS possible (as long as it's a healthy goal) BUT give yourself steps first. You can't jump from the top of the staircase to the bottom without falling! you need to go through each step in order to get to the bottom. Now, get up.. get to that top step and work your way to the next step.. DO NOT JUMP! Have a wonderful day everyone, I'm off to a BBQ (I think the next blog will be how to survive a BBQ while on your diet!) Lets see... :) |
