I went to see my Nutritionist this weekend and my only complaint to him was that I was EXHAUSTED. I was so tired to the point where my eyes were killing me. When I would fall asleep I would constantly wake up through the night. Now, you tell this to a regular doctor and they will give you some sleep aid. No, Not my guy! This is why I love him…as I have told you in the past he's holistic. So, instead he printed me out this sheet of Sleep Optimization tips. It was very helpful. I'm still tired but sleeping better! Take last night for example: My boyfriend likes to go to sleep with the TV on and as you see to the left TV Stimulates your brain and it makes it difficult to fall asleep. It also messes with your sleep hormone (Melatonin). It was still decently early so as I was tossing and turning STILL trying to fall asleep i waited until he was out cold (didn't take too long) and then I turned off the TV. What happened? I passed right out! I didn't wake up once! HOORAY! |
The prior night I couldn't fall asleep either but it was just me and the TV was off. In this case I followed step 4 in the sleep routine section. As I was taking deep breathes I just kept saying to myself, "Go to sleep," "Go to sleep." It actually helped because my brain was focused on that and NOTHING else. My mind wasn't wondering going on and on about what happened that day or what will happen the next day or any stories the imagination creates. Again, I slept through the night!
