In my opinion Summer is one of the hardest times to be on a diet, or eating healthy. So many parties, weddings, BBQ's, Beach visits etc. Well... you DON'T have to cheat at any of these festivities. Let's talk about a Summer BBQ. A BBQ ALWAYS has a TON of food, at least when my family has one it does. Now, for me I'm Gluten Free and Dairy Free. So, it's very difficult (and, i wont lie i have my minor cheats at BBQ's...enjoy it but don't go crazy!). If you want to be "perfect" then here's what you do... A BBQ usually consists of Burgers, Hot dogs and Chicken right? Want a Burger? have one OFF the bun and remove the cheese if you're doing dairy free. You can always make the patty "tastier' by using condiments (Onions, Tomatoes, Ketchup, Mustard, pickles, etc.) Want a hot dog? I would just honestly say don't eat it.. it's totally processed of all sorts of not so goodness. BUT, if you want it that badly.. have it just like the hot dog - no bun, and add some condiments for a tastier hot dog. Want chicken?? HAVE IT!!! It's grilled, not fried at BBQ's (usually) My family BBQ's always have a fresh salad so I always have a big plate of that and eat it first so that I get a little more filled of that and have less of the "crap." I got lucky last night when I was at a BBQ because they had a Kale, Quinoa and Avocado salad which was absolutely DELICIOUS. I also had a cucumber salad!! SOOO GOOOD. BBQ'S usually aren't just full of the bad things such as breads, potato & Mac salads..etc. When it comes to the dessert being put out I do have a little cheat so that I'm not going crazy. But, like I said...LITTLE. so last night I had an oatmeal raisin cookie and a bite, literally just a bite, of a chocolate chip cookie. Last thing I have to say is drink A LOT of water throughout the day. I think when I was there last night I had 6 Bottles of water. The water will also help fill you up a little bit. Now, Have a BBQ? Go out and enjoy it. You don't have to stuff your face with all the bad eats.. you can ENJOY the good eats :) |
