Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing my best friend try on wedding dresses for the first time. It was so surreal! It was Her, her mother, and 2 aunts - as well as her Maid of Honor on Skype being she lives in Florida. Side Note: Before she even got engaged we talked about how I would be the "Honorary" Maid of honor being her actual Maid of Honor lives in Florida. Basically I would attend her vendor appointments with her, help plan, etc. and her Maid of Honor would help with the Shower, Bachelorette, etc. We went to the Wedding Center in Commack. The place is pretty darn big! The woman we had helping us out was amazing. She listened to all of my friends wants for her dress and ended up finding two AMAZING dresses. One very fun, exciting, bubbly...like my best friends personality. And then another which was very classic, romantic and vintage. Now that we know what she likes it will be easier for her to find "the one" down the line. We went to lunch and she formally asked me to be her Maid of honor (also). I was/am ecstatic to help my best friend move over to the next chapter of her life with her amazing fiance along with her other best friend who's absolutely a wonderful person to share the title with. This just goes to show that there isn't really anything that's "traditional" when it comes to weddings anymore. The Brides and Grooms have come to do what they feel is right for themselves, which I love. If you can't choose between two people...make them both your maid of honor. Each person will probably have tasks they are better at. When it comes to your wedding day - Remember: It's about you and your bride/groom... Do what's best for you. Don't do something just because it's "traditional" or "supposed to be that way." Again...It's all about YOU (both) |
