Do you have advice for our Diamond Bride? Leave a comment in the Comment section of this post. | Being newly engaged is supposed to be one of the most exciting times of your life. However, once you decide to sit down and actually start the planning, it can get a little stressful. One important decision that needs to be made early in the planning is which of your friends/ relatives are going to be in your bridal party, or more importantly, the maid of honor. I thought this would be a piece of cake to decide, but it’s a lot harder than it looks. If you’re like me, than you have plenty of friends to choose from, but you don’t want to end up with 20 bridesmaids (that’s a little excessive). So what do you do? Start off with family. Do you have any sisters? Are you close with them? If so then that should make your life a little bit easier because as they say “family comes first”. If you’re lucky enough to have a sister whom you share everything with than the hard part is already over because you have your MOH. If you’re not fortunate enough to have a sister (like me) then you have a little more freedom when choosing your Maid of Honor. I have three friends who are practically sisters to me. I have known each of them for many years and have an incredibly strong friendship with each of them. SO WHAT DO WE DO? Well being the maid of honor to a bride is a lot of work, and a lot of responsibility. As the chief bridesmaid they have an endless array of duties before, on, and after the bride-to-be’s wedding. The MOH is going to be your go-to person, which can be extremely stressful for one person so make sure the girls you have in mind are going to be able to handle being your right hand woman. Here are a few duties I think the maid of honor should be equip to handle :
These are just a few things to think about when picking your maid of honor. You need to chose wisely and make sure the person you chose is not only able to handle all of this but is willing to. I know these days we call all of our friends “Best Friends” but when it comes to your wedding you need to make sure you are choosing the “Best” friend for the role. They are going to be your go-to woman, your partner in crime for the entire length of the engagement. Take your time and in the end the answer will be clear. And after all of that if you still don’t have a clue… you can always draw names from a hat ;) Good Luck Friends! xO |
